If you need a tank installation, our representative will visit your site to determine the following:
On the date of installation, your tank will be set and a gas line will be run from the tank to the house. A gas safety check will be performed on the gas system.
If our tank is already there, your estimated usage will be based on the previous occupants usage. An appointment will be needed to perform a gas safety check and discuss the safety brochure.
We use a degree day system to estimate when to refill your tank. With auto-delivery, you don’t have to request a refill. If you wish, you can track your usage by looking at the gauge under the dome. Propane tanks are filled to 80% of the tank’s water capacity. We will refill the tank at around 20% and leave a delivery ticket.
FYI: Your tank is owned & maintained by Greenwell’s Propane. It is against Kentucky state law for another company to fill a tank it does not own.
To determine how many gallons of propane are in the tank, multiply the tank percentage shown on the gauge by the water capacity of the tank.
Example for a 500-gallon tank: 25% X 500 = 125 gallons in tank
If your gauge is reading 20% or lower, please call the office and let us know. Customer usage can vary for many reasons.
